Our project aims to create an autonomous system which is capable to sanitize the doorknob using UVC radiation (one type of ultraviolet). The system uses a magnetic switch to detect the opening and closing of the door and upon closing of the door, it will signal the Arduino Uno R3 board. A cover equipped with a UVC light strip will be used to cover and sanitize the doorknob. This cover will be moved by a servo motor. The Arduino as the brain of the system will activate the UVC lights for 30 seconds to sanitize the doorknob. The system will use ultrasonic sensor to detect if a user is approaching the door, once detected, the system will immediately switch off the UVC lamps to prevent the approaching user from being exposed to UVC radiation and open the cover to allow access to the doorknob.
