Offline Hydraulic Oil Filtration System

Hydraulic oil filtration is an essential component for all industries as hydraulic oil machinery is heavily utilized. The hydraulic oil components are highly sensitive to contamination thus it requires high purity of hydraulic oil for the machinery to always operate at high precision. Thus, this research aims to design an offline filtration system to filtrate the contaminated hydraulic oil without interrupting the pre-existing workflow. A centrifugal filtration system was introduced and designed as it outperforms conventional barrier filter media in the long run. It does not require a periodic change of filter and has the ability to filtrate solid and water contaminant at the same time. ANSYS Fluent was primarily used for the simulation. Mathematical analysis and experiments were also done to further improve the accuracy of results. The results were then compared with literature review so that it proves that the design can function effectively.
