LEARNING IN THE TIME OF CORONA
BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY
BEST STUDENT FILM
In the March 2020 semester, six (6) Broadcasting students lost their internship placements when their companies were forced to shut down due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With no other option and not wanting to delay their graduation date, these six students were taken on-board as interns by the School of Media and Communication (SOMAC). They were given the task of producing a documentary which explored the trials and tribulations of students and academics of Taylor’s University as they soldier on with education while facing the COVID-19 global pandemic of 2020.
The resulting documentary itself is a marvel of ingenuity, having been filmed completely remotely via video calls and with zero budget.
